18 days

i always forget to update this blog. so summer is over in 18 days. i'll be 21 in 18 days. i'll be a college student in 18 days. i might even feel like a real adult in 18 days.

i got my class schedule yesterday, so it's starting to hit me that i'll have to grow up and go to school every day and really apply myself. i'm excited to go school shopping and get supplies and things for my room.

i recently bought a 17" Macbook Pro with my student line of credit. i also bought a cute backpack for it. hope my books and lunch fits in with my behemoth of a laptop.

on august 27th, i'll be going to both campuses for orientation. i'm going to get my student card and bus pass probably. i'll also get my book list i'm assuming so i can finally get those. i hope they're not too expensive.

the new sims expansion, Apartment Life or whatever, comes out in a few weeks. i hope i get it for my birthday. i also need to get an XP disc so i can dual-boot and play the sims on my mac. i'm so excited for that. my old computer was crazy slow and it wasn't even fun to play most of the time.

you know what if fun to play? wiifit. my aunt lent hers to me and it's such a great game. it's tiring, though, but it makes you feel good. my friends were playing it for the last few days and they were beating my records, so now there's competition to destroy :D i unlocked Free Step today. i walked 1800ish steps in 20 minutes while watching Bikini or Bust on TLC. good times.

so it's almost the middle of august. this summer has been really great. my friends are fun and my camera is nice. imovie 08 is a nice program. i finally figured out how to resize pictures using iphoto, so hopefully this will inspire me to update this blog more often :)

here are three videos of my friends and i having fun, lol:

Rides

i like two things about the carnival - $6 cherry lemonade and overly ornate rides. the lemonade stand was closed, so this is all i was able to get.

i always forget about this blogger, so i've got some catching up to do.

Art in the Park

Laura, Dan, Marla and I went to Art in the Park on Sunday. Laura, Dan and I took the shuttle bus over and Marla met us later on. Everything was crazy expensive. I bought a Starry Night + Cow print from these neat Asian people. The guy was playing a DS the whole day. Walkerville school's tent was my favourite. It definitely made the heat and the walking around worth it. My mom said my art and photos were better than half of theirs, but I'm not going to hate on them. After Art in the Park, Laura went home for dinner, so Dan and Marla came to my house where we bbq'd hot dogs and I made mashed potatoes. It was nice. There was a crazy freak thunderstorm and I thought Laura was going to die on the way to my house. She did not. We played Singstar (lame) and then went to Marla's house and played Rockband (amazing!!). Marla had to drive her brother's girlfriend home, so Laura, Dan and I went to Little Caesars and got a pizza from Miranda. We came back to my house, ate, watched some mtv and then watched Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself. Laura and Dan went home at 2am. What a nice, busy day. I need to buy a PS3 and Rockband ASAP.

franklin and death cab

the day after the playground hangout, laura and i went to dan's to play wii games. i forgot my games, so we went back to my house and picked up steve while we were there. it's nice and convenient that he lives close. we played with dan's new dog franklin. i remember seeing pictures a few months ago from when he was a teeny tiny puppy. now he is gigantic and chases his tail a lot. we played warioware, this monster truck game and multiplayer bully. i really need to get another nunchuk. my batteries died after this video, so i didn't get any pictures.

another time i didn't get any pictures was last night when i saw death cab for cutie in detroit. i was under the impression that no cameras were allowed in the fox theatre but EVERYONE had cameras. how annoying. it would have been really neat to get pictures of all of the red wings fans celebrating out on the streets after the show. oh well, it was a good show. i'm sort of happy i wasn't distracted by my own camera because i'm not too sure i would have enjoyed the show as much if i had a camera to hold up. everyone else who had cameras (and cellphones) seemed to pay more attention to them than the band. good times nonetheless.

Eight and Playground Hangouts

29 - dan and the gang

today was a really good day and hopefully the kickoff of a really great summer. it's sort of sad that the play wasn't a highlight, but i guess i wasn't expecting too much (although john did really well). ice cream is really expensive. i think if i put $5 aside for every two scoops of ice cream i eat, i would be rich in a month. playgrounds at night are underrated. my pants are dirty. i took a million pictures (though not as many as laura since she was basically doing stop-frame animations) and a bunch of videos that i'm excited to look at. good day, friends, good day.

hair cut and stuff

22 - hair cut

i cut my hair last night at 2am. i liked it a lot, even if i do look like Selphie from ffviii.

when i was waiting for my bus, a car of white boi gangstas honked and waved. i thought that was funny.

i'm doing well in this volunteer thing i'm doing. it's all confidential, so i cannot say much (like anyone even reads this...lol). we do role plays in training and today i thought i did poorly, but the trainers said i did well, so i am proud. basically, i'm volunteering to learn how to communicate empathetically/effectively and i can see it working already. i went to bk afterwards and ordered food and it wasn't even stressful. i think, in a way, i adapt to my surroundings and who i'm with for periods of time and adopt their characteristics. the other volunteers are all really nice and focused on doing well in school and in life and i can feel that affecting me in a good way.

i'm really excited to start school in september and maybe get my g2 in the summer and maybe get a job in the next few weeks.

laura, britt, shawn, ashley and i are seeing death cab for cutie in less than two weeks!

i have no idea how to neatly weave in ends.

in the last two days i've watched three movies, all of which i thoroughly enjoyed. i watched Evan Almighty, The Nanny Diaries and Adaptation. the special effects in Evan Almighty really surprised me.

last night i practiced my volunteering phrases/conversation techniques with dan on msn. i think i'm getting pretty good with the structure and content of my active listening statements and open ended questions. we talked jobs and how we should probably get employed some day soon. i printed off my resume and finished filling an an application i printed the other day. hopefully i actually go and apply somewhere sometime next week.
